It was a weekend to remember at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, where the Hearth of Racing team took its first victory in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
The entire team demonstrated its strength by dominating the entire race weekend, starting from the pole position taken by Ian James on Saturday afternoon until the 6H of the race in which the #27 Aston Martin Vantage driven by Daniel Mancinelli, Ian James and Alex Riberas led for 160 of the 164 scheduled laps.
This fantastic victory marked the tenth victory for Aston Martin at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA).
At the start of the 6H of race, Ian James led for the first two stints, managing to maintain a firm lead of the race and handing the car over to Daniel in first position after just under two hours from the start.
Mancinelli, who returned to the track with a two-second advantage over the Lamborghini, managed to hold on to first place and increase the gap from his pursuers.
Alex Riberas, who took to the track for the last two hours of the race, held on to the gap gained by his teammates, crossing the finish line in first place with over 20 seconds of advantage over his closest rival.
“Winning on our home circuit, in front of our fans (65,000 people who came to watch the event) was fantastic.” – Daniel said – “I’m happy and proud to have done it with the Hearth of Racing team: the team was fantastic in the pits and the strategy was perfect. Now we are close in the championship, still in fourth position, but only nine points from second place and 37 from the championship leader.”
The next appointment with the WEC Championship is in two weeks in Japan for the 6H of Fuji.
