The weekend that has just ended on the Vallelunga circuit for the third round of the Italian GT Endurance Championship was not the luckiest.
After good free practice and an excellent qualifying session, the drivers of the Audi Sport Italia team were confident about the possibility of reaching the top of the provisional standings.
But at the start of the race on Sunday, Riccardo Agostini – who was first on the track – was forced to retire already on lap five while he was in third position, due to a broken bearing.
Daniel and Mattia Drudi were therefore unable to take to the track to try to recover the three points that separated them in the championship from the Ferrari of Fuoco/Roda/Rovera and having not taken any points they slipped to sixth place 10 points behind the new leaders Stefano Comandini and Marius Zug.
“Unfortunately, I’m a little bit disappointed because after qualifying we were in an excellent position to aim for victory or at least the podium.” – Daniel said – “But these things can happen. Now we look forward to the last round of the Italian Gran Turismo Endurance Championship to be held in Monza on November 8. We will arrive with some points to recover but mathematically everything is still open for the title.”
