A winning weekend

The weekend just spent at the Le Castellet circuit in France for the second round of the CIGT was truly triumphant.
During the Q1, Daniel, also thanks to the excellent work done by the Easy Race team, managed to conquer the pole position.
At the start of race 1, starting from the first position, Mancinelli gained a good advantage over the pursuers, delivering the car to his teammate with a 3 second lead over the second.
On his return to the track, Andrea, thanks to fast laps, increased the gap on the two Lamborghini to 9 seconds, marking a clear leadership of the Ferrari 488 Gt3 of the Easy Race team.
In race 2, Fontana, thanks to a good qualifying session, started from P4.
The start was not the best: the wet start under the safety car did not allow Andrea to immediately take the right pace, making him lose two positions but then managed to recover one.
At the mandatory pit stop, Daniel returned to the track very determined and despite the penalty of 15 seconds he managed to recover 5 seconds from the Ferrari #27 of Fisichella-Gai and then, during the pit stop, to overcome both Ferrari and Lamborghini that preceded him.
The excellent pace allowed the italian driver to recover other precious seconds on the Lamborghini #19 of Veglia, but the deterioration of the tires due to the track that was drying didn’t allow him to bring a decisive attack, finishing race 2 in P3.
“I’m very happy for this weekend.” – Daniel said – “We were very confident for this appointment but we did not think we could even take a victory and a third place. The team worked really well, both to prepare the car and during the pit stops. Andrea is been an exceptional teammate. A special thanks goes to the Easy Race team and all the sponsors who support us.”
The next round of the Italian Gran Turismo Championship is for the weekend of 15-17 June at the Misano circuit, while Daniel will be back on track next May, 18th-20th at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario for the third round of the Pirelli World Challenge.
